Sesame Seared Tuna
INGREDIENTS:
1 block of sushi grade tuna, trimmed into a rectangle
1/4 cup white and black sesame seeds
2 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Oil
Wasabi paste (as a condiment)
Pickled Ginger (as a condiment)
Soy Sauce (low-sodium)
1 lemon into wedges (as a condiment)
DIRECTIONS:
Trim a nice piece of sushi-grade tuna into a rectangle
Lightly rub all sides of the tuna with toasted sesame seed oil
Press oiled tuna into bed of sesame seeds, ensuring that the top, bottom and sides of tuna is covered in sesame seeds
Heat heavy skillet or griddle on medium-high heat
Place sesame seed encrusted tuna into pan or griddle for 2 minutes on each side.
Remove from heat and let the tuna rest for 5 minutes.
Slice into 1/4” pieces and serve with wasabi paste, soy sauce, lemon juice and pickled ginger.
